When my friend told me about ouefs en cocotte (also known as shirred eggs) I decided to buy ramekins just to try out the baked egg dish. Sure, I could've probably purchased CorningWare French White 7-Ounce Ramekins, Set of 2 for cheaper, almost half the price. I'm sure they would've done the job fine. However, for just a little more I thought it was worth it to get the Le Creuset. It just seems more authentic to have a French dish in a French ramekin. Besides, they are sturdy and well crafted. I see these lasting the rest of my life as long as I take good care of them. And they are so beautiful. I love the gradual darkening of the light to dark red. If you like Le Creuset, you'll like these ramekins. They're also the perfect size for a serving size of sauce or a small individual-sized dessert.

I am thrilled with these little ramekins. They stack nice and the kiwi color is better in person than it looks online. I was a little surprised to see a Made in China sticker on it. Or perhaps was Taiwan...I can't remember, but it certainly wasn't "Made in France" like all the other Le Creuset items I have purchased. Perhaps they outsource some of their items? I have the kiwi large pan from them and the two seem to match decently.
